Those of us who took part in the movements and organizations discussed in the book owe Elbaum a tremendous debt. I find that his criticisms of our missteps and errors are almost always on target, and yet he treats the people involved with respect.

In spite of everything we did wrong, I can't imagine choosing a different path for myself. I was able to associate and work with some of the finest people I've ever known. That alone was worth suffering the disappointment of not succeeding in our quest.
